When you’re in the market for a job, one of the best places to look is Craigslist. With its ever-changing and wide selection of positions and industries to choose from, you’re sure to be hired or at least start a contract within a month. Sure not all of them pay the best, or are even legitimate, however, using a little bit of discernment goes a long way.

A few things you should keep in mind:
If there’s a scam going around and either taking peoples’ money and identities, you’ll know pretty soon with certain posters or job seekers flagging potential scams or unfair hiring ideals and salaries. But you need to look for certain attributes on a post in order to be sure that it is not going to take all of your money instead of give you more of it.
- “Work from home”, or things similar are usually a scam.
These people will generally tell you that you can work from home. Only god knows what they feel the entitlement to use your name and email address they think they may have, just like most scammers-of course…. - For most sales jobs.
Some of these jobs may actually be actual companies. The only reason I would stay away from sales jobs in general is simply because they usually require long hours, low pay, and poor commission checks due to the state of the economy. In times like these, you really cannot guarantee the success of any product. - Everyone likes to low ball.
You just can’t let them. If someone is asking for a small amount of money, and a large workload, be sure to specify in your email to the poster that you may be interested in the job and be sure to provide a brief and detailed salary history in order to assure that you can provide a good reason why. Some people don’t realize until you tell them. - If anything doesn’t make you comfortable, don’t do it.
It’s that simple. If you ever feel like you’re in potential danger, or you don’t feel like giving out your social or address, then don’t! There’s a good chance your intuition is trying to warn you.
